The circular economy has already been the subject of some fifteen articles in Thot. This economic concept is defined as the desire to produce goods and services without wasting non-renewable energy and other raw materials.
After explaining the genesis of this international platform, we'll show how"Circulareconomy.org enables you to discover, activate, share and implement circular economy projects in all areas of your business: mobility, energy, synergies, services, etc.". Industrialists, design offices, companies."
In practice
Developed in 2015, this platform is supported by ADEME (Agence de développement et de la maîtrise de l'énergie) and the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy. Led by the CIRIDD (Centre international de ressources et d'innovation pour le développement durable) and the Institut de l'économie circulaire, the project aims not only to provide knowledge on the concept, but also to bring together international, national and local players.
This collaborative space is open to all members (currently over 350) wishing to contribute to making this initially conceptual approach pragmatic. A quick registration (First name/Last name/Organization/Mail) allows you to publish articles and propose initiatives.
To date, nearly 300 companies and organizations are represented: professional federations such as UNICEM (Union nationale des industries de carrières et de matériaux de construction) or the Fédérations des entreprises d'insertion, companies such as Véolia or Saint Gobain, economic structures such as Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and various associations (national or local).
- News: events, miscellaneous information (such as the publication of books or calls for projects), articles presenting opinions, videos.
- Circular economy: articles on "Understanding the CE", "From concept to practice", "Challenges for resources", "Challenges for players", "Modes of action".
- Initiatives: a list of innovative projects and the possibility of submitting a personal or collective initiative, which can be located on an interactive map.
- Members, with a list of participants and organizations.
- Communities, with the possibility of exchanging ideas on themes such as "the circular economy and accounting" or "Compost'Acteurs", and the freedom to create your own community.
- Documentary resources with a search engine and TAGS system: documents can be videos, books or reports, projects, etc., with the possibility of proposing them as a member.
The principle of a collaborative platform, i.e. a portal open to other sites, is becoming the norm for bringing together elements of knowledge and relevant, sorted resources in a single location.
When these initiatives are supported by institutions providing a reliable and user-friendly tool, this kind of platform is likely to endure over time: with this site, the circular economy becomes pragmatic and favorable to our environment, and encourages responsible and socially responsible consumption!
