The DELE is the official Spanish diploma for everyone par excellence. It certifies your level of language skills and mastery of the language of Cervantes. The candidate does not have to be a native Spanish speaker to take the test.

The DELE -Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera - or Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language, is a Spanish diploma that evaluates candidates' skills in Spanish, both written and oral, and is specially dedicated to non-Spanish speakers.The DELE exams are organized and administered by the Cervantes Institute every year. The Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports then issues diplomas to the winners. The DELE is officially recognized by the French Ministry of Education. This diploma is intended for any individual for whom Spanish is not the mother tongue, but who wishes to attest to his or her skills in order to later evolve in a Spanish-speaking environment.
The DELE is composed of 6 levels (from A1 to C2) that are taken separately. Each of the 6 forms of the DELE is independent of the others and gives the right to a diploma attesting to a certain level of competence in Spanish.
The tests of the DELE vary according to the level evaluated but one finds in the 6 versions of the DELE the same structure and the same course: written comprehension, oral comprehension, written expression, oral expression.
The duration of the test increases as the level increases. The higher the level assessed, the longer the test lasts. The DELE C2 test is therefore the longest of all, while the DELE A1 test is the shortest.
