Whether we like it or not, social networks are communication tools that have become just as important, if not more so, than traditional media. For a territory, it's therefore becoming a necessity to be there in order to promote both tourism and community life, and potentially attract citizens. Visibrain, a social media analysis platform, organized a webinar to show the reality of French regions' activity on the networks.
First and foremost, they're all on Facebook and X/Twitter. The former network often serves as a "newspaper" covering news about the territory, while the latter is intended as a way of sharing information quickly or highlighting victories.
Instagram is probably one of the most interactive, with sublime images of landscapes, among other things, to attract tourists. TikTok is little-used, yet here too, videos of events or micro-trotters can be used to find out more about the vitality of a region. Last but not least, YouTube is used to highlight regional advances, particularly those relating to the environment and green development.
The idea behind using networks is to create a showcase that encourages virtual escapism, mention local achievements, showcase talents and make use of influencers who can promote your region to a wide audience. All this while understanding the different media, their audiences and what they're looking for.
