Encyclopedia of remarkable mathematical forms

The advancement of mathematics through its graphic representations

Commenced in '93 by Robert Ferréol and aimed at upper-level math students, the "Encyclopedia of Remarkable Mathematical Shapes" offers a recapitulation of classical curves.

As we pore through the curves, surfaces, and explanations of their construction, we are humbled to discover just how much geometric understanding has been built up over the centuries and continues to this day.

We enjoy it massively, but our ancestors, our parents even, were not so lucky; every scrap of this knowledge was hard-won.

Most of the pages are accompanied by very explicit drawings or clear animations, in addition to the formulas.

  • 2D curves
  • 3D curves
  • surfaces
  • fractals
  • polyhedra

This is a beautiful work, the result of a passion that apparently does not waver.
