Schools are home to all kinds of living things. A strange insect, an unusual plant or an unknown fungus? What are they?
Photograph them and share your discoveries with the experts using the INPN Espèces mobile application.
INPN Espèces is a real tool for raising awareness and understanding biodiversity. It's a simple, fun way to discover the species of fauna, flora and fungi that surround us, both in France and overseas. It's also a great way to improve our knowledge of French species!
In just a few clicks, send us your photographs of wild species, along with a few details:
- date and place of observation,
- the group of the specimen observed (mammal, bird, plant...),
- even the presumed species.
You'll then receive an expert identification on your mobile, plus additional information: first observation in the commune or département, endangered species, etc.
Observations are integrated into theINPN - Inventaire du patrimoine naturel (Natural Heritage Inventory), enriching the distribution maps of the species concerned.
Quests are also proposed to answer a scientific question concerning a particular group or species. The data collected will enable experts to gain a better understanding of the ecology, distribution or life cycle of the targeted species.
Participatory science for all!
In 2023: 921,499 observations on 18,781 taxon have been made in 24,475 communes by 25,898 contributors and checked by 308 experts. (A taxon is a unit of genus, family, species, subspecies, hierarchical classifications of living beings).
