"Nearly a third (30%) of the population in France is already myopic, and the epidemic is set to worsen, with the WHO estimating that around 5 billion people (50% of the world's population) will be myopic by 2050".
In addition to various approaches, such as braking lenses to slow the progression of myopia in children and other myopia treatments, the Premyom consortium aims to
- better understand myopia ;
- personalize treatment to limit progression, by creating a digital twin for each patient to predict the most appropriate solution.
The consortium includes
- EssilorLuxottica - expertise in precision optics, optical models of the eye, ophthalmic lenses and instruments.
- Inria - for its digital component
- Institut de la vision - Myopiamaster industrial chair (supported by ANR) on the retinal biology of myopia, covering more fundamental research.
- The Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital - French Myopia Institute, for clinical studies,
- InSimo, expertise in the transfer of biomechanical digital simulation solutions for the eye.
- Institut Mines-Télécom, for data sharing and storage between all partners.
The multidisciplinary nature of this project will enable us to take into account social factors, such as the time children spend indoors, as well as biological, medical and physical factors,
