To stand out from the thousands of "instructional" videos produced every day, there is a tool that both reduces editing work and improves the presence of the presenter. This tool is called the teleprompter.
Rather than stammering or making mistakes to be corrected in editing, live professionals and videographers prepare their lines and have key points displayed in advance through the camera with a teleprompter.
Continuous and increasingly accessible improvements
Until now, professional teleprompters have remained fairly expensive, cumbersome devices, and mostly reserved for television studios. But the need for mobility and live reporting has created a demand for lighter, mobile devices. Mobile? That's right, almost everyone carries around a phone or has access to a tablet!
Three types of products are now available:
- Self-contained teleprompters, which pair with an independent camera, they are rather expensive;
- Teleprompters that pair with an independent camera and integrate a mobile device and display app, more affordable;
- Mobile teleprompters, using the mobile device's camera and displaying directly from its screen, very affordable or even free.
The plus of mobility
When having a phone, why not also use audio and thus adapt the scrolling of the text to the reader's flow? Rather than the reader having to adapt to a set rate of speech, the teleprompter reacts to the reader's rate of speech and thus allows it to be much more spontaneous.
Some apps allow for this refinement and exceed the performance of studio teleprompters...

With a little practice, anyone can learn how to use a teleprompter and your videos will only get better!
