Growth versus ecology: who will win?
For decades, experts have known that infinite growth is impossible in a given world. Yet these warnings have been ignored in favor of the myth of continuous gains. As we begin to see the effects of this quest on us, the question remains whether a paradigm shift is necessary. If so, what will it be?
A school without grades, various approaches
For the learners, the discussions revolve around one thing: the grade. Everyone is looking for the best result in order to get into the most prestigious courses. However, this system has turned school into an anxiety-provoking environment that makes those who do not succeed feel guilty. What if evaluation eliminated percentages and letters? An idea that is being debated, but that is of interest to more and more teachers.
The social worker and the ecological crisis
Our inner states condition our relationships with the world. How can we establish a healthy relationship with what surrounds us if we are suffering inside, and conversely, how can we feel good if the world around us is polluted and suffocating? It's the job of social work to create virtuous links between these two polarities.
Educational myths: only useful if you don't believe them!
Pedagogical "recipes" falsely supported by vague or even non-existent studies have undergone impressive growth. Driven by a graphic rhetoric built on pyramids, concentric circles and round-figure statistics, educational and managerial publications have relayed all manner of models. But now, after the fashion for pedagogical myths, the trend is to denounce them.
Integrating parents of immigrant students
It's not easy enough to uproot yourself and find a new place to live. Children and parents alike also have to get used to a school system that is often quite different. Younger children find it easier than their parents, yet it's important to involve them in the schooling process.
