Video game spaces
What the size of the play area says
The question of game space is at the heart of the video game experience in general. Whereas in the past, areas were necessarily reduced in size or representation to fit on a cartridge, modern games have more latitude. Some offer gigantic maps designed to reproduce cities or an imaginary kingdom to be explored. Others, however, will remain within a restricted framework to orientate the player or give him a feeling of suffocation, as horror games do.
It all depends first and foremost on the artists who choose the graphic style of the environments. They will often make collages showing their inspirations, whether architectural styles or paintings. All this work will be converted into conceptual images that will inspire the level designers. They have to keep the artistic spirit while making it playable. They will adapt it to the type of game, the camera used, etc.
Next, the artists will work on the environmental narrative. They will reflect on and set up the ambiences to convey emotions such as fear, wonder, curiosity, disgust, etc. to the player. All this work will then make it possible to offer an original play experience, whether the space is gigantic or smaller.
The Englishes MOOC course was developed by an artist and is designed for anyone interested in the (English) language. It explores the history of English, its pronunciation, and its relationship to the art world.

However, who actually benefits from this new economy? The people or the companies in question? A U.S. newsgame shows how the life of Uber drivers isn't as lucrative as one might think.
Video games designed for people with disabilities are already a rare resource. An experience that allows multiple players is even rarer. Yet this latest creation from "Ludociels for All" challenges players to light up an entire maze by walking balls of light.
