Mr.Goodfish: eating fish while preserving the survival of the species

Program to raise awareness of fish consumption in a sustainable development approach.

The "Mr.Goodfish" program, launched by the World Ocean Network, aims to raise awareness among the public and fish industry professionals about the sustainable consumption of seafood.

In fact, some varieties of fish that are victims of their "popularity" are overfished, becoming scarce and therefore threatened with extinction. On the other hand, other species of fish, less publicized, can be just as delicious if we take the trouble to get informed and learn how to cook them. Fishmongers, restaurant owners and individuals have an interest in changing their consumption habits in a concern for sustainable development and responsibility towards our natural resources.

On the Mr. Goodfish website, you will find a list of products that takes into account season, fish consumption size, and non-endangered seafood stocks. This list of recommended species is established for each season by a committee of experts that includes representatives of fishermen and fish farmers, a marine resource scientist, a representative of trade and distribution, and a scientist from the World Ocean Network.

Practically, this list of recommended species is accompanied by photos and simple recipes recommended by top chefs.

If everyone goes out of their way to think outside the box and vary the contents of their plate, we could ensure sustainable consumption of seafood and there would still be something for everyone tomorrow.
