Becoming the author of one's own learning
The metaverne is an innovative pedagogical concept developed at APM (Association progrès du management) to offer 6000 members the opportunity to choose their own learning path freely, according to the themes that speak to them, for 2 days . It is a space to learn to let go.
The neologism metaverne crosses metaverse and Jules Verne. It marks the ambition to explore the future to come. The 5,000-square-meter space is laid out in the form of unique booths and workshops on key themes related to the exploration of the next worlds.
A guide helps navigate the plethora of workshops on offer. A large part is devoted to the ecological transition, self-discovery, and the realization of unique experiences. The event is a specially created human and scientific exploration with an event approach.
A drone tour shows the diversity of the venue's layout. This diversity is intended to challenge the visitor at the bend of each aisle and encourage them to dive into an activity they hadn't planned in advance. The next intimate, collective or societal worlds are made of surprises that we must welcome like the scent of a flower at the turn of a path. Who could have prepared for Covid, the war in Ukraine, bank failures etc.? Is it not appropriate to get used to the emergence?
- The circulation and signage of the place aim at a maximum of fluidity. For this, mediators coaches and professional animators guide towards original and offbeat proposals that would not have been spontaneously requested. For example in the workshop "Beyond Death", hidden by hangings 10 coffins are placed on the floor and accompanists help to let old ideas die, to focus on what matters and to give birth to new projects. - There are constant breaks in pace between a central Agora bubble where visitors participate in "jousting matches" hosted by the Institute of Desirable Futures and mix their opinions with those of experts, or TedX-style forums where speakers focus their thoughts in a dozen minutes.
- Alternating with these rapid rhythms are slow, gentle rhythms of tales listened to under Yourtes or philosophers with whom to drink a tea protected from the hustle and bustle . A perfume specially designed by perfumer Antoine Coricchiato for the occasion is released increasing the disorientation of the nomadic camp.
- Next Worlds also explore technology virtual reality, augmented reality, 360-degree tour, metaverse discovery, 360-degree exhibit with a teleportation effect. These technologies are highlighted in their formative power, but also in the possibility to put oneself in the skin of another person and feel, for example, what a woman insistently looked at in the street is experiencing.
- An axis of the metaverne is dedicated to research and a device for capturing experiences is installed in a mini studio to record the words and stories of visitors' experiences. The transcriptions are used by a researcher to analyze and understand what makes learning between a formal meeting and a return to the company. This reflective dimension is accompanied by a collective researcher of about fifteen previously trained participants who conduct interviews in the metaverne space to capture learning narratives.
- A part of the themes is dedicated to the living, a stand is dedicated to raising awareness of the gourmet forest and the imperative need to protect and strengthen natural spaces. A biomimicry exhibit provides ideas for designing the next few worlds differently.
- The way in which the work will be carried out includes an exhibition on telecommuting and its hidden side especially through the projection of photos showing situations mixing professional and personal spaces but also integrating in an inclusive way the disability by means of training in handibasket or conferences on the subject.
- Creative spaces of imagination of poetry or literary short stories turned to the next worlds are conducted by a professional poet or a expert in science fiction literature and feed into a "time capsule" intended to be opened in 2050; a link to future worlds.
- Or the opportunity to meditate on eco-philosophical tales and experience regeneration rituals to reconnect.

Programming turned towards a world where everyone is the author of the living
What characterizes this metaverne is the ambition to discover through experience and without injunction, the possibilities of an inclusive and open living world. By choosing themes and experiences lasting from 15 to 45 minutes visitors personalize their experience. They have the opportunity to decide, according to their instinct, to go where they want, to discover and learn what is good for them. Between letting go and intuition, the choices they make illustrate the difference between a learning environment completely designed for them externally according to a program and progression established by others and an environment they compose according to the stimuli, encounters, emotions of the moment (Cristol 2022 distinction environment/milieu).
The landscape of learning is very different depending on whether what is experienced is a personal choice or a succession of sequences desired by an educational designer. The environment will be all the more learning if it is the result of a mobilization of available resources according to one's own questions of the moment.
