The United States may be the world's leading exporter of agricultural products, but the Netherlands is a close second! This European country, better known for its gray weather, is flooding the European market with its vegetables and fruit. It has to be said that the country has decided to focus on this sector. The Dutch territory may not be huge, but farmers manage to produce well thanks to high-performance greenhouses and the use of technology.

Students are looking at automation, vertical farms and other approaches to produce more while reducing environmental impact. Whether it's artificial intelligence, analysis or genetic cross-breeding, there's no stopping future and established scientists from experimenting with ways to feed a growing human population around the globe, while making the sector far less polluting than it is today.
